Peter Jones, Chief Executive Officer
Orwell Healthcare
Coming from a pastoral care and business background, a move into the nursing home sector was a natural progression for Peter. From the beginning in 1987, he displayed a determination to drive change within this healthcare sector.
In 2001, Peter was joined at the helm by his wife Dr Mary Jones and together they have used their extensive experience in healthcare to develop residential divisions, Orwell Private and Orwell Queen of Peace, along with Orwell Home Care and Orwell Education as centres of excellence for the provision of care.
The Joneses have displayed tremendous vision and innovation backed up by a huge financial investment in this sector. Investment in on-going training, dementia specific design and keeping to the forefront in terms of latest technology in equipment have been a trademark of their business.
In 2016, a €15m development at Orwell Private was completed. This included two new state of the art residential buildings and a commercial street complete with Gym, Shop, Café, Hair Salon, Training Rooms and Wellness Centre. It also saw the opening of a specialist rehabilitation unit catering for adults from 18 years of age with an acquired brain injury. Orwell Private was the first private nursing home in South Dublin to offer this specialist multi-disciplinary led rehabilitation programme.
A similar investment is currently in the planning stages for Orwell Queen of Peace Nursing Home which Orwell Healthcare purchased in Spring 2017.
Orwell Healthcare currently provides care for more than 250 clients and has a growing workforce of over 300.
